Benches, choreographed by Roger Sinha is inspired by Edward Albee's The Zoo Story, a play about the intense and tragic relationship between two strangers who meet in a park.

In this park, recreated on stage through a series of benches, 6 individuals act out aspects of the human condition such as conformity and apathy as well as contrasting characteristics such as empathy and spirit. Like acrobats, the dancers oscillate between falling and jumping, walking the fine line between isolation and the search for intimacy, ultimately symbolising the instability of human relationships.

"With hairpin precision and brilliant comic timing the dancers perform death-depying leaps and intricate, sensuous movements with lithe grace and intelligence".
